There are various online companies that help you get incorporated in various states (states have different pros & cons) and the services they provide differ widely; It is difficult to compare them apples-to-apples.
But all these companies have one firm undeniable common point – the state filing fee. Each state has a fixed filing fee that any new business must pay to get incorporated. Given this is a constant, one might expect that most incorporation services simply pass this buck along to the customer. However, it is surprising (and disappointing) that some of these firms charge you 100% higher that actuals (sad smiley)
KY charges a simple $40 fee for “Articles of Incorporation”
Now when I try to use the top Online Incorporation firms, I can use this $40 as a fixed constant metric……….or so I thought.
Bizfilings charges you an unbelievable $90 KY State Fee, $50 (125% extra) more than the State Charges!
Their Fee Breakdown does not say why its $90….
2. Incorporate.com (by The Company Corporation)
The next offender is INCORPORATE.COM – These folks charge their KY filing customers $60, a 50% surcharge over what KY demands…
This company charges a modest $5 increase over the actual state filing fee cost. Again, it is unfair that the customer is not clearly informed of this higher cost.
All the remaining major companies all seemed to charge the standard $40 that one expects them to honestly & transparently charge a customer.
